Linux Mint 18, Click the link at the bottom for either 64-bit or 32-bit computers. Here are two links to easily install "DupGuru" using a Linux ".deb" file, on either Linux Mint version 18 (Ubuntu Xenial), or Linux Mint version 17.3 or lower (Ubuntu Trusty). Most people would add their "/home/username/" folder, or maybe be even more specific, like "/home/username/music", or "/home/username/pictures". To search (scan) complete drives, select the root "/" of those drive(s), otherwise select (+ add) folders to scan from your main drive and any other connected drives. You still have to select (+ add) folder(s) for it to scan no matter where those folder are, including external drives. "DupGuru" used to have three editions, a standard edition (dupguru-se) which scans for all files, a music edition (dupguru-me), and an picture (image) edition (dupguru-pe), and apparently they have combined them into one edition now. I just ran "DupGuru" v4.0 and in less than 2 minutes even on my ancient, underpowered, computer it scanned my complete "/home/username" folder for duplicates and produced a nice list where I could have chosen various actions, like removing duplicates, etc. Maybe you installed it incorrectly, or maybe you are using it incorrectly, because "DupGuru" works great. I've played with the options and haven't gotten any better results. All the way down to 1% and still nothing. I put those files in the ignore list and tried it again-after adjusting the "filter hardness" down from 95% to 85%. I was hoping that DupeGuru would discover them and allow me to choose which ones to keep (based on size, resolution, etc.). They are the exact same photos but different dimensions. I know for a fact that I have many duplicate files (at least 117) because I know that I downloaded them and put them on my external hard drive. The files it found were very similar, but not duplicates. I ran it for the first time last night and it found 4 duplicate files. I downloaded and installed DupeGuru after reading about how highly regarded it is.
